First Listen: DnB Hero Roni Size Reveals New Tune

/ August 19, 2014

Taking a break from Reprazent’s live experience, Bristol D&B don Roni Size gets back to making “dancefloor cuts for the heads” with the just-released EP ‘Size Matters’ featuring six tracks from his upcoming album, Take Kontrol (out August 25 on his new label, Mansion Sounds). Size, who broke through in 1997 with his now-classic debut, New Forms, says of his first album since 2004’s Return to V, “This is just the start of better things to come.”

So far, the output’s living up to the hype. All summer long, new tracks from Take Kontrol have been finding their way online. The latest, “Running Around My Head,” features K-Pop star Tita Lau and is premiering on Vibe today. Size, presently splitting his time between London and Bristol, tells Vibe:

“This is the first time she [Tita Lau] has ventured into the world of drum and bass, and surprisingly her voice fits perfectly on this vibe. When I am in the studio, I am always trying to get the artist to step outside their comfort zone and ‘Running Around My Head’ is the polar opposite of what Tita Lau would normally work on in the studio. After giving her a copy of the tried and tested instrumental, the song came to life in its own right.”
