USA Today is running a story about filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler, Black Swan) taking to Twitter to drum up support about his biblical epic Noah. In the piece, they've subsequently released the first picture of Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe as the title character from the production, which is currently filming in Iceland.
The story follows the biblical tale of a man who is given a mission from God to build a giant vessel that can house two of every animal from the Earth to save them from a giant flood that will wipe all life off the planet for a new beginning. One would have to wonder if they will call upon the services of Morgan Freeman to serve as the voice of God.
Noah will find Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, Douglas Booth, Emma Watson and Logan Lerman (the latter two who appear in Summit's The Perks of Being a Wallflower in September) co-starring alongside the Gladiator actor. As pointed out by the USA Today story, Aronofsky will be using his Twitter account to post daily updates and pictures from the production. Wait, this guy has never heard of a little thing called InstaGram?
Noah is scheduled for release on March 28, 2014.
