Five Things You Need To Keep Your New Year’s Resolution

John Kennedy / January 6, 2010

Okay, okay, so #in2010 (that’s Twitter talk, people), things are gonna be different! And the first thing you’ve resolved to do is to get back into shape. That means you’re really gonna lose the extra pounds you’ve been carrying around since Thanksgiving. And you’re really gonna start hitting the gym during your lunch hour. And you’re really gonna start watching what you eat. No. Really! Well, good for you.

But everyone knows New Year’s resolutions are meant to be broken. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered. Check out five things you’ll need to stay on the right path this winter. And look at it this way: If you happen to stumble along the way like you did back at the beginning of ’09, these five items will work just as well in May when you remember that summertime is just around the corner. Starting with that funny-looking device above. Good luck! ––Chris Yuscavage

① Fitbit Tracker ($99) (top)
Working out is fun for about a week. And then it gets pretty boring. But with this handy device, you can actually see your results every single step along the way. Simply clip the Fitbit Tracker to an article of your clothing in the morning, handle your biz, and by the time you get home and plug it back into its docking station, you’ll be able to sign onto your online Fitbit account (free!) and see how many steps you took during the day, how many calories you burned and, best of all, whether or not you actually got enough exercise. It even tracks your sleep patterns to make sure you’re getting the proper amount of rest. The only drawback? It doesn’t ship ’til January 31. So you can’t quit before then, OK?
