Floyd Mayweather Inks Deal with Showtime

Floyd Mayweather Inks Deal with Showtime

Christopher Harris Posted February 19, 2013

Looks like the money team is getting paid again.

Floyd 'Money' Mayweather Jr. has just signed a ground-breaking deal with Showtime Networks inc. that can potentially go down as the largest individual athlete deal in all of sports.

While the terms are "contractually confidential," the undefeated boxer is set to fight six times within the deal over a period of 30 months. Showtime pay-per-view will exclusively air the boxers' bouts via the corporation's expansive media platforms, including the CBS television network.

The arrangement sends a huge blow to rival network HBO, which previously housed the multi-million dollar fighter.

Mayweather averages a million pay-per-view buys per event - the highest PPV buys average in the history of the sport.

His forthcoming match-up against Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero will emanate live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 4. Mayweather's last two fights (both victories), earned the boxer a total of $85 million, making him the highest paid athlete in the world by Forbes.
