With their constant production of new parties and premieres, Fool's Gold Records has become a brand and name that is consistently expanding, and recently they have added a new member to their large family by signing young Philly MC, GrandeMarshall. After hearing his expertly crafted debut mixtape 800, label founders A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs quickly inducted GrandeMarshall into their FG crew, introducing him onstage at the label's five-year anniversary party in Brooklyn. As the newest signee to the label, he will join a brand that's launched artists from Danny Brown to Duck Sauce to the world at large.
This recent addition should come as no surprise though after listening to the mixtape that made GrandeMarshall famous. Featuring thoughtfully brash rhymes over production from the likes of DJ Dahi (Kendrick Lamar, Dom Kennedy), Silky Johnson (A$AP Mob, Main Attrakionz) and even Grande himself, 800 moves seamlessly from the moody mission statement "Dearly Beloved" to North Philly trunk rattlers "GODBPM" and "NP Shidd," and heralds the arrival of one of the most exciting new talents in hip hop.
