Mikey Welsh, former bassist for storied rock band Weezer, was found dead this past Saturday (Oct. 8) in his hotel room.
Police officers responded to a call from the Raffaello Hotel regarding a guest who had been scheduled to check out, but had not.
Darryl Baety, a Chicago police spokesman reproted hotel personnel entered and found Welsh "unresponsive and not breathing." At his time his cause of death is unknown.
Authorities are conducting a death investigation related to the case, pending autopsy results
The bassist was part of the band's 2001 "Green Album" release, which featured "Hash Pipe," one of the group's biggest hits. However, Welsh left the band shortly after he suffered a nervous breakdown.
Weezer also worked with Lil Wayne for their single "Can't Stop Partying."
