With Fantastic Four in the works, Fox is now preparing to test a handful of actors for the roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storms, also known as Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Girl.
Sources are reporting that a handful of intriguing names are being vetted with test offers to read for the roles of the first family of crime-fighting. Kit Harington (How to Train Your Dragon 2), Jack O'Connell (This Is England) and Miles Teller (21 & Over) are in line for Richards, while Saoirse Ronan and Kate Mara are being tested for Storm.
Michael B. Jordan is still the only actor currently being mentioned as a possibility to play Sue's brother, Johnny, also known as the Human Torch, but that could change.
Chronicle helmer Josh Trank is said to direct the Marvel adventure picture, hoping to do for Fantastic Four what Fox recently did with the X-Men franchise. The studio is still waiting on a script before giving the official greenlight, but Simon Kinberg is not expected to do a full rewrite.
In terms of scheduling, O'Connell is the only one whose calendar may pose a conflict, since he is slated to begin production on Unbroken, the Angelina Jolie-helmed biopic whose lensing may overlap with The Fantastic Four.
Fox is looking to get things jumping in the first quarter of 2014.
As for the other members of the Fantastic Four universe, no names have yet been mentioned for the role of the villain or Benjamin Grimm, also known as The Thing.
