Frank Ocean Being Sued Over Song 'Lost'?

Frank Ocean Being Sued Over Song 'Lost'?

Christopher Harris Posted March 8, 2013

Frank Ocean's critically acclaimed debut album Channel Orange featured several producers on the 17-track project, including Pharrell and Tyler, the Creator. But the Def Jam crooner's producer of choice for the Grammy award winning album was his long-time friend Malay, who's behind 13 tracks.

According to Allhiphop, "Lost," which was co-written and produced by Malay, is now the subject of a lawsuit filed in the District Court of California.

Producer Micah Otano claims Malay stole the song from a previously recorded track the two did together, titled "Daylight," and did not credit him for the production on Ocean's album.

Along with Island Def Jam and Universal, who are also named on the lawsuit, Otano is seeking an undisclosed amount in back royalties and damages.

In 2012, the Odd Future affiliate was threatened with a lawsuit by the Eagles founder Don Henley for his "American Wedding" remake of the rock band's record "Hotel California."
