Just a few weeks since '90s sitcom fans the world over tragically mourned the death of James Avery, known to most as Uncle Phil on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, his TV wife Janet Hubert has admitted to her own medical problems, according to Radar Online.
Janet played the role of Aunt Viv until 1993 in the hit show starring Will Smith. The actress recently filed a lawsuit against the American Federation of Television and Radio Acts and their health fund claiming that her “intense spasms” and “strange chattering” has kept her out of work and forcing her to go on disability. She told Radar that she would like her benefits back after being denied "some very, very important medical things that I need to feel good.”
These issues have included “military neck” (a rare condition that causes the loss of spinal curvature) vertigo, a “chatter” in her jaw and the inability to comb her hair and touch her face, all of which have made it painful to move.
The TV star claims that back in 2011, H&R sent her a letter stating that they never intended to pay for her “trigger point injection” treatment and they believe the sessions had been “excessive”. They felt that 4 injections a year were “medically necessary” but Hubert had received 42 since 2010.
She filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles last year, requesting her unpaid benefits, legal fees, retroactive relief for her treatments and an order demanding H&R to pay for any future treatment.
