He's always been a trendsetter. Now Allen Iverson will apparently add the distinction of perhaps holding the shortest retirement in the history of the game to his resume.
The Philadelphia 76ers are hoping The Answer will prove to be just that for a squad that has gotten off to a dismal 5-13 start. A.I. is set to rejoin the squad that made him the top pick in the 1996 NBA draft later this week after reportedly inking a one-year, non-guaranteed deal.
After bouncing around from Denver, to Detroit, to Memphis... then short term oblivion, it stands to reason that Iverson would welcome the idea of returning to the scene of some of his greatest memories. The four-time scoring champ led the Sixers to their only NBA Finals appearance over the last 25 years in '01, picking up the league's MVP award along the way.
Now with Philly struggling on the hardwood and at the gate, the reunion comes as a no brainer to most. Ask yourself, wouldn't you pay to see moments like these? --Glenn Minnis
