G.Dep on Murder Conviction: 'It Was God's Will'

G.Dep on Murder Conviction: 'It Was God's Will'

Posted April 20, 2012

After being convicted of second-degree murder earlier this week, G.Dep is surprisingly calm.

On Tuesday, he was finally found guilty after his 2010 confession of killing John Henkel years ago.

The "Special Delivery" rapper reacted to his conviction in an interview with MTV. "However it went down, it was just one of them things where I knew I was facing some type of charge, so whatever the verdict was, I knew it was God's will," he said from behind bars.

Taking responsibility for his actions, he continued "You know, someone was taken from [the Henkel] family, so I can't feel like I was robbed in any kind of way. "I just want to thank everyone that was involved in the case. I don't have no ill thoughts towards anybody."

While he did address some negativity from reporters, he remained positive overall. "I'ma just stay strong and hopefully I'll see y'all in the near future or the far future," he said. "I know life goes on, praise God. And one day maybe I could say hello to y'all again."

At a May 8 sentencing, the 37-year-old rapper will face up to 15 years in prison. --  Jazmine Gray
