George Zimmerman Escapes Charges In Dispute With Estranged Wife

/ October 24, 2013

After an alleged dispute with his estranged wife, George Zimmerman will not be facing any criminal charges, a police official said. Investigators did not chalk up the incident to a crime.

The news comes after Shellie filed for divorce from the former night watch volunteer, who was acquitted in the Trayvon Martin trial, where he was accused of murdering the Florida teen. Shellie told ABC News in September that the trial had put a strain on their marriage.

Last month (Sept. 9), Shellie said in a police report that an argument with George over splitting their assets had turned sour, and that he allegedly threatened her and her father with a gun. The incident was said to be was recorded on her iPad, which George destroyed in the heat of the dispute, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

She later switched her story up, claiming that her previous allegations were false.
