The worldwide success of Olympus Has Fallen has convinced the principal cast that another installment is needed. This time in London.
After raking in $161 million worldwide earlier this year, Nu Image has decided to build upon their success with another action smash starring Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart.
The two are said to be reprising their roles alongside Morgan Freeman for London Has Fallen in a plot where terrorists plan to strike the city during the funeral of the British Prime Minister. It's up to the President of the United States (Eckhart), his secret service head (Butler) and an English MI6 agent to save the day.
Millennium Films is producing and financing the project, which also sees Gerard Butler's G-Base also listed as a producer. Focus Features is more than likely to distribute in the U.S. under the watchful eye of incoming CEO Peter Schlessel, whose FilmDistrict released the original last March.
Original screenwriters Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger will return to write the screenplay. No director has been listed yet.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in London on May 5, 2014.
