Despite originally having Jamie Foxx and Bruce Willis attached to the video game action-thriller adaptation, Gerard Butler has initiated talks to play Kane in Kane & Lynch.
The Nu Image / Millennium Films project, which has been long gestating, has caught the attention of the Olympus Has Fallen star. The move aims to re-team Butler wit his Law Abiding Citizen director, F. Gary Gray, who is still on board to direct.
According to Empire Online, the production company is also submitting an offer to Vin Diesel to play Lynch, which originally was going to go to Jamie Foxx, but at this time it's early to say how that will go.
For those who haven't played the game, the plot follows Kane, a death row inmate who, along with a schizophrenic killer named Lynch, are sprung from prison to retrieve a stolen fortune. The duo travels to Japan, Cuba, and Los Angeles in order to save Kane's wife and daughter. The game was developed by IO Interactive and published by Eidos Interactive.
The script that will be worked upon by Gray was written by Skip Woods and Kyle Ward.
Butler, who made box office bank with Olympus Has Fallen, will re-team with Aaron Eckhart for a sequel titled London Has Fallen.
