G.O.O.D. Music’s ‘Cruel Summer’ Album Given Official Release Date

Kanye West’s first official G.O.O.D. Music album has finally been given a release date. Cruel Summer will be released on Sept. 4. Def Jam issued a press release earlier this morning.

Music’s smash platinum single and lead track from the upcoming CRUEL SUMMER album – reigns at #1 at Urban radio for the fourth consecutive week, Kanye West’s collective drops its next banger: “New God Flow,” featuring Kanye and Pusha T, and produced by West.”New God Flow” is currently available at all digital music retailers and services, including kanyewest.com. “Mercy” – the future-trap anthem featuring Big Sean, Pusha T, Kanye West and 2 Chainz – sits for the fourth week at #1 at Urban and rockets to #5 as this week’s Greatest Gainer at Rhythm on the strength of over 61 million in total audience nationwide. This marks Kanye’s ninth #1 single at the Urban format, including – most recently – “Otis” and “Paris” from West’s landmark collaboration with Jay-Z, WATCH THE THRONE. The G.O.O.D. Music crew performed “Mercy” at the BET Awards in Los Angeles. The track has sold over 1.2 Million copies.

CRUEL SUMMER, the musical companion and inspiration for West’s acclaimed 7-Screen cinematic experience, is one of the most hotly anticipated albums of the summer. The CRUEL SUMMER film saw its debut in Cannes in May, and drew reactions like “groundbreaking,” “gorgeous,” “ambitious,” immersive,” and “unique” from the press in attendance.
