In less than a day, an epic boxing showdown will take place in Montreal, Quebec: the fight for the WBC Diamond Championship belt. The Diamond Championship is an honorary match that exclusively awards the winner of a historic fight between two high-profile and elite boxers. Holders of the title have included Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Manny Pacquiao, Bernard Hopkins and more. This year Canadian light heavyweight champions Jean Pascal and Lucian Bute will go toe-to-toe in the ring, but there can only be one champion.

The match had to be rescheduled from May 2013 to January 2014 due to an injury that required surgery to remove bone fragments from Bute’s left hand. In this HBO Boxing Insider, Kieran Mulvaney reports from the Pascal vs. Bute final press conference in Montreal where both fighters have made it clear that they are ready to lace up their gloves and take it to the ring.

“I’m very confident, very strong, Saturday night, just one winner, Lucian Bute,” says Bute confidently.

“I hope he’s well prepared because I’m well prepared, and we’re gonna do a great fight, an epic fight, and we’re doing this for you guys,” says Pascal.

Pascal vs. Bute happens Saturday, Jan. 18 at 10:15PM ET/PT on HBO.
