Here's How The 2013 Grammy Awards Affected Sales For Artists Like Bruno Mars and Miguel

Winning a Grammy Award is great for business. But, don't just take our word for it. Instead, ask Bruno Mars or Miguel or Taylor Swift or fun. or Mumford & Sons or…well, you get the point. If you win a Grammy Award—or, better yet, if you perform on Grammy night—you almost always end up receiving a huge sales bump the following week on the Billboard charts. And, this year was no different.

Now that all of the numbers are in, Billboard has announced the biggest winners of the 2013 Grammy Awards. And, they found that, of the top 40 albums in the country on the Billboard 200 chart, 18 had received significant sales bumps because of the Grammys. As a matter of fact, nine of those 18 saw sales increase by at least 100 percent in the week after the Grammy Awards on February 10. Last year, only six albums enjoyed a similar sales increase.

Mumford & Sons enjoyed the biggest sales increase of the week, receiving a 242 percent bump the week after the Grammys. But, they weren't the only ones to enjoy one. All of the artists listed above—and more!—saw their sales increase after the Grammys. Sales as a whole are down six percent in 2013 as compared to 2012. But, it's still good to see that people are discovering new music through the Grammy Awards and then supporting it by buying it.

It'll be interesting to see if that trend continues when the 2014 Grammy Awards roll around next February.
