Hong 10 Wins Redbull’s 10th Annual BC One B-Boy Finals In Seoul
It was a historical night on the 10th anniversary of Rebull’s annual BC ONE B-Boy competition in Seoul, South Korea. Last Saturday (Nov. 29), B-Boys from around the globe gathered in the Asian metropolis for the final major battle of the year. Contenders included Roxrite, Taisuke, Arex, Lilou, Ronnie, Gravity, Mounir, Froz, Wing, Nori, Omar, Robin, Neguin, Lil Zoo, Hong 10 and Menno.
VIBE was on hand to experience the best breakers in the world compete for the coveted BC ONE championship belt. The Redbull flowed as each competitor went head to head in matches drawn at random. Though, there was only one winner, each dancer put on a unforgettable show for the crowd of over 4,000.
The sold-out Jamsil Arena in Seoul was packed with hometown fans, in favor of Korean contestants Wing and Hong 10, but it wasn’t an easy ride for the native breakers. Crowd favorites LiLou, Gravity, and Mounir didn’t make it easy for anyone. Unfortunately, the U.S. reps didn’t make it the final round.
Hosted by Korean music star, Jay Park, the event also incorporated performances from Drunken Tiger, KRN FX & Mike Song, and more. The rounds were intense but it all boiled down to the final round between Mounir and Hong 10. Crowd cheers aside, judges El Niño (USA), Lamine (France), Poe One (USA), Storm (Germany) and Ducky (South Korea), were in for a nail-biter as the final decision was no easy feat. To roars from the crowd, South Korea’s own Hong 10 took home first place with his dynamic spins, unique style and power moves.
“I can’t explain how happy and shocked I am that I won, especially this 10th anniversary year,” said Hong 10 of his historic win. “To be level with Lilou is amazing; I have a lot of respect for him and can proudly say that I’m also a two-time Red Bull BC One champion.”
