Academy Award winner Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg lead an all-star cast in 2 Guns, a good genre action film that comes from the talents of director Baltasar Kormákur.
The two talented actors play undercover agents for the DEA and U.S naval intelligence, respectively, who are unwillingly attached to the hip. Plotting as members of a narcotics syndicate, each man comes to the table distrustful of the other as they attempt to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel and recover millions in capital. As Robert "Bobby" Trench (Washington) and Marcus "Stig" Stigman (Wahlberg) are suddenly disavowed by their superiors, everyone wants them either in jail or in the ground. The only person they can count on is the other, and director Baltasar Kormákur paints an exciting picture for these two to play on.
Unfortunately for their pursuers, when good guys spend years pretending to be bad, they pick up a few tricks along the way.
Starring alongside Washington and Wahlberg in 2 Guns are Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol, Baggage Claim) as Agent Deb Rees; Bill Paxton (Big Love) as Earl, a tough CIA agent; James Marsden (The Butler) as Lt. Cmdr. Quince, Stig's point man in naval intelligence; and Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) as Papi Greco, an underworld drug warlord who is out to make Bobby and Stig regret the day they set foot on his ranch.
There are plenty of exhilarating moments in this Universal picture, as the two plan and execute a pretty thrilling bank heist, a shootout in Mexico and a scene that would fit right in a level of Hitman: Absolution.
VIBE was on hand for a sit-down with the 2 Guns stars, as Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg talk about their on-and-off screen chemistry, their most memorable scenes in the film and their reactions to Ryan Coogler's Fruitvale Station.
