Sam Smith’s time is now.

The white-hot UK soul singer is counting the first-week tally of his heralded debut album, In The Lonely Hour, but still looking forward in growing his stardom and spreading his voice.

VIBE sat down with Sam in Manhattan’s Lower East Side last week to chat with the singer being dubbed the male Adele (or the new Frank Ocean?). He opened up about hopes of a collaboration with TDE’s own Kendrick Lamar, wanting to cover a track by the legendary Luther Vandross and how his new album has made him an open wound. —Sowmya Krishnamurthy
