J. Cole Explains Why He Chose "Power Trip" As First Single

VIBE Posted February 21, 2013

With J. Cole's first single, "Power Trip," from his upcoming sophomore album making waves online, MTV talked to the rapper about how why he felt the song with the perfect single to launch his next project.

“It sounds like nothing that is out. You know what I mean, it was between that and another record that may be a bigger record, but ‘Power Trip’ had that newer sound, " J. Cole tells MTV. "They both got a new sound, but ‘Power Trip’ absolutely, you couldn’t point to any other song on the radio, and be like oh this sounds like that.”
