J. Cole Laughs At ‘I Disappointed Nas’ Song Title

Iyana Robertson / May 24, 2013

Apparently, there’s a thin line between a scoop and incorrect information. Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg hit listeners with an alleged inside detail on J. Coles upcoming Born Sinner yesterday (May 23). He relayed information that he gathered on a song that may be featured on the June 18 release.

“Supposedly, there is a song on the J. Cole album called something along the lines of ‘I Disappointed Nas,’ about how Nas supposedly reached out to J. Cole after he heard ‘Work Out’ and was like ‘Nah fam, I expected more from you than this. And supposedly, J. Cole gets really personal and has a whole song about how it felt to have disappointed obviously one of his heroes in music, Nas.”

While it seems Rosenberg may be onto something with the song’s concept, J. Cole has responded to the dish, saying that the radio host dropped the ball on song’s title.

“Please put this out tonight and tell him that’s not the title of the song,” he said in an interview with the UK’s Soul Culture. “That’s terrible. That’s why I don’t like playing songs for people early too, because I’m into surprises. And you’ve already like kind of ruined the surprise and murdered the title.”
