J. Cole crashing a Sweet 16 party has come back to haunt him.

For MTV’s upcoming RapFix special, J. Cole’s The Warm Up 5 Years Later, the North Carolina rapper reminisces on the mixtape that launched his career as well as his embarrassing moments caught on tape. Sway confronted Mr. Cole World about his impromptu appearance at Aaron Reid’s (son of music exec L.A. Reid) 16th birthday party and he said he came through for networking purposes after one of his female friends mentioned that Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, and possibly Jay-Z would be in attendance.

With a demo in his pocket and a customized “Produce For Jay Z Or Die Tryin” tee on, Cole, a then college senior at St. John’s University, even got some on-air shine in a goofy interview. Watch him recount the night below and tune into J. Cole’s The Warm Up 5 Years Later on Sunday, June 15 at 7:30pm ET, on MTV.
