Ja Rule to Begin Two-Year Prison Sentence Today

Ja Rule to Begin Two-Year Prison Sentence Today

Posted June 8, 2011

It's been four years since Ja Rule was arrested for driving with a loaded semi-automatic .40-caliber Taurus handgun in his Maybach and six months since he copped to the weapons possession charge. Now, after dodging/fighting the inevitable, Rule will begin his two-year prison sentence at a New York correctional facility today.

Rule was arrested July 2007 on the same night as Lil Wayne after both MCs performed together at New York's Beacon Theatre. Wayne has since completed his stint in jail and is now a free man while Rule is set to turn himself in and head to Rikers Island before heading to a facility in Upstate New York.

Unfortunately, this may not be the last time the rapper serves time. Rule's tax troubles caught up to him in March and the rapper admitted to owing $3 million in back taxes. He could face up to three years for tax evasion. On a brighter note, Ja Rule's 'Pain Is Love 2,' his first album in six years, is set to be released this summer.
