Jalen Rose Sentenced To 20 Days In Jail For DUI

Posted July 28, 2011

ESPN sports analyst and former Suns player Jalen Rose was sentenced to 20 days in prison for a DUI back in March. He plead guilty back in May.

According to Rose himself, he swerved off a West Bloomfield Township road after having six martinis. Although no one was injured, his blood-alcohol level was 0.12 percent, above Michigan's legal driving limit of 0.08. "I have no one to blame but myself for endangering the community." he said in court.

District Court Judge Kimberly Small also had a few words in court. "You're not here because you drank. I have no problem with that; have at it," she said. "I do mind when you get behind the wheel of a two-ton vehicle and use it as a weapon against the rest of us." He actually received 92 days in custody, but the judge suspended all but the 20. With addition to the jail sentence, he will also be on probation for one year. Lesson learned, we hope. —Keenan Higgins
