When we first reported this tidbit of news, it was only a matter of time before it was confirmed. After the jump, we have the words straight from the Foxxhole!
After letting it slip that Jamie Foxx was on board for the Marvel sequel, the "Django Unchained" star, himself, shared the details of his association to the project. Talking to Entertainment Tonight, the Oscar award winning actor was reported as saying that he would be playing the role of Max Dillon, also known as "Electro".
Summarizing his character as "a genius electrician-type person who gets the short end of the stick from the whole world," Foxx will take his unique talents to redefine the villain, who marks his first appearance in a Spider-Man movie. "I met with the director, Marc Webb, I met with Andrew Garfield, and we talked. I think Electro will be an exciting character to play..."
Marc Webb, the director of the original "Amazing Spider-Man," is also back on board — perhaps no surprise considering the film's $751 million box office haul earlier this year. Anticipation for the project is shaping up to be major, as with the addition of Electro, Norman Osborn may also be making his re-appearance as The Green Goblin.
Foxx is currently on a promo run for "Django Unchained," which stars him, Leonardo Dicaprio, Kerry Washington and Samuel Jackson. The Quentin Tarantino spaghetti Western hits theaters on December 25th, 2012.
We will keep posted as more develops.
