He’s a massive force in hip hop and the pop world, so why not alternative rock?
According to a press announcement, superstar rapper Jay-Z has been chosen as a headliner to perform at the upcoming 11th annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this spring. The three-day California outing is set to begin on April 16 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio.
Other acts set to perform include conceptual cartoon band the Gorillaz, British rock act Muse, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, underground dance music legend Grace Jones and indie pop act Vampire Weekend. Buzz-heavy MC’s Wale and B.o.B will also take to the stage.
Jay-Z, who is still enjoying the critical and commercial acclaim of his platinum album The Blueprint 3, joins the ranks of other high profile Coachella headliners over the years that have included Prince, Paul McCartney, the Cure, Beck, Rage Against The Machine, the Beastie Boys, Madonna and Radiohead. ––Keith Murphy
