Jay-Z Congratulates J.Cole For Having Number One Album

Jay-Z Congratulates J.Cole For Having Number One Album

Posted October 6, 2011

J. Cole's successful release of his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, was enough for hip-hop royalty to speak on his number-one position.

"J. Cole's success is testament to amazing artist development and Cole's hard work," Jay-Z said in a press release. "I want to congratulate him on a #1 album and more importantly a great body of work."

Yesterday, Soundscan clocked Cole's first project at over 217K units sold. Considering the nature of today's music industry this is an incredible accomplishment. Cole's manager also commented on his success.

"J. Cole personifies humility and grace with edge and depth. As an MC, his point of view speaks to and represents me. I'm proud and blessed to be a part of his journey!" Mark Pitts, president of urban music at Sony /JIVE and CEO of Bystorm Entertainment.
