Jay-Z Says Old Subway Sings Inspired Nets Logo

Jay-Z is the prime example of a Renaissance Man. With the announcement of the “Made In America” Music Festival, reviving the Nets in Brooklyn, and even bring us a new pop starlet (Hi, Rita!), it’s hard to imagine what Jay-Z can’t do.

Sticking on the subject of the Brooklyn Nets however, Hov sat with MTV News to discuss his inspiration behind the logo and it’s “classic New York” look. He tells MTV, “It's real gritty and [Brooklyn is] not about flash —well, sometimes. Just the roots of Brooklyn as this very bold, strong, simple logo."

He continued by saying, "It was really a take off the old subway signs, if you look at the old subway signs they were in black and white. It was that strong, beautiful, iconic black and white. I wanted to pick something that would stand the test of time and be here forever."

We definitely can’t wait to see the evolution of the Brooklyn Nets with Jay-Z by their side!
