Jay-Z pulls another trick out of his bag of #newrules before the release of his forthcoming album Magna Carta Holy Grail.
According to the New York Post, Hov’s Empire State takeover is slated for July 8 on the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater for a Late Show With David Letterman performance. Only obstacle: Mayor Michael Bloomberg pulling the plug on the concert like the state did with Hov and Eminem's show in 2010, pushing the two rappers to take their talents to the rooftop.
“If he gets permission from the mayor’s office, it’s going to be off the hook,” a law enforcement source said. “They’ll have to shut down Broadway around the Letterman building. They’ll have to have a strong police presence. It’s going to be chaos with so many fans.”
The performance would be a grand gesture as his twelfth studio album drops July 4 exclusively through the Google Play app for Samsung. Production on the album includes Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Rick Rubin and Swizz Beatz. –Andrew Asare
