Jay-Z To Write Songs for 'Annie' Musical

No one knows a hard knock life better than Jay-Z.

So it only makes sense that the mogul rapper oversee the music for the new version of the 1970s classic, Annie. According to NME, Hov will be taking on writer duties for the musical which features his youngest Roc Nation star Willow Smith. The pint-sized rocker’s dad, Will, will be producing.

Jay-Z’s 1998 “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem”) sampled the theme “It’s A Hard Knock Life” from the original 1970s musical that was later turned into a film over a decade later.

The 11-year-old Willow was recruited to star as Aileen Quinn after her parents' production company, Overbrook Entertainment, took on the production.
