Jennifer Lopez won't be leaving you TV screens anytime soon. The singer/host/businesswoman is headed back to acting as NBC has picked up a 13-episode season of her new series Shades Of Blue. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will star Lopez as Harlee McCord as a corrupt police officer and single mother who has just been enlisted by the FBI for an anti-corruption task force. The show will also serve as Ryan Seacrest’s first venture into scripted drama by executive producing under his Ryan Seacrest Productions company.
With a seemingly rich plot, Shades Of Blue will delve into Lopez as McCord, who deals with being compromised by her fellow cops as well as raising her daughter. Adi Hasak (3 Days To Kill) will serve as the show’s writer and executive producer. Lopez will also serve as executive producer along with her manager Benny Medina, while her Nuyorican company will share production duties with Seacrest, Universal Television and other imprints.
“Whether its producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we’re delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement.
Production for Shades Of Blue is slated to begin in 2015 for airing during the 2015-16 television season.
