Former Illinois congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. was sentenced to 30 month in prison Wednesday after misusing campaign funds.
The son of civil rights activist Jesse Jackson Sr., the younger Jackson was a Democratic representative from Illinois from 1995 until late last year, when he resigned amid scandal. Jackson pleaded guilty to charges of misusing campaign funds, and admitted he spent $750,000 on items like Rolex watches and expensive dinners.
Jackson's wife Sandra will spend a year in prison for her role in the scheme.
Jackson said he wants to take responsibility for his actions, and admits he "misled the American people."
