Jimmy Fallon is looking to start his Tonight Show stint with a bang as Will Smith and U2 have been named his first guests on the Feb. 17 show, Variety reports.
Though keeping a tight-lipped about his upcoming gig, he did tap predecessor Jay Leno for some words of wisdom.
“He said ‘You have to make your monologue longer,’ ” said Fallon, whose monologues have been running three minutes whereas Leno's have clocked in at about nine to ten.
While Justin Timberlake's bestie is headed back to the Big Apple for his new role, he says he intends to pile on the laughs after-hours.
“It should be goofy and funny and make people laugh,” Fallon said. “That’s our job. …I wish Steve Allen and Johnny Carson were still around to see what we’re doing to do with the show.”
