John Singleton is in negotiations to direct a biopic about Tupac for Morgan Creek and Universal Pictures. The project was originally set up with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua, but Variety reports that difficulty in casting the role of 'Pac failed to yield candidates that Fuqua approved, which caused the director to move on in search of other project.
The Tupac script comes from Oscar-nominated screenwriters Stephen J. Rivele and Chris Wilkinson (Ali, Nixon).
Singleton has previously worked with Tupac, who starred in his 1993 film, Poetic Justice. The role of "Jodie" in Singleton's 2001 flick Baby Boy was also meant for Tupac but given to Tyrese for obvious reasons.
