After revealing the tracklist for his 20/20 Experience: Part 2 of 2, Justin Timberlake plans to take back the night again for an unforgettable performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, live from the Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

Returning to the VMA stage after a hugely successful year involving his comeback project The 20/20 Experience, JT will receive the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award honoring his innovation and artistry in music video creation and impact. List of past recipients include MJ himself, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, REM, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Britney Spears, who was the last artist to receive the award back in 2011.

It’s not the only honor the pop star is up for. Timberlake is also tied with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for the most VMA nods this year with a total of six including “Video of the Year,” “Best Male Video,” “Best Pop Video” and “Best Editing” for “Mirrors,” while his “Suit & Tie” featuring Jay Z nabs the nod for “Best Collaboration” and “Best Direction.”

In celebration of the forthcoming performance and award, MTV Hits, the music network’s 24-hour music channel, will feature a one-hour block of Justin Timberlake music videos and performances today (August 15) at 3pm ET/PT. Wrapping up his Legends of The Summer Tour with Jay Z, JT will also be hitting the road solo for his world tour this fall.
