Justin Timberlake on Timbaland Producing '20/20' and Touring With Jay-Z

Iyana Robertson Posted March 1, 2013

Justin Timberlake sat down with Capital FM radio station in the UK to promote his new album, "The 20/20 Experience." Mr. "Suit & Tie" chopped it up about his new single, the overall tone of the new album, and what it feels like to be back in the studio.

"I feel like I'm 19 again, like that unabashed excitement," he said. "It's nice to be excited about something that you want to put out."

Recalling his artistic process for 20/20, Justin shared that he wanted to create in privacy. Diverting the hype, the singer focused on creating a more experimental album, incorporating new sounds as well as classic JT records like his latest song, "Mirrors."

"From the moment I wrote it, it felt like a signature record for me," Justin said of the track. "And with this album, it's experimental in a lot of different ways, and there's a lot of different sounds. So to have this record on the album, it feels like something that's feel familiar to me, but moves in a different direction as well."

The singer also confirmed that his longtime collaborator and friend Timbaland would be producing the entire new album. Pharrell, another producer who has worked with Justin since is debut solo album,
will not be appearing on 20/20, though the two continue to work together.

"It's all me and Timb," Justin told Captital FM. "I have recently worked with Pharrell on some stuff that he's doing. We talked about getting back in at some point. I mean, I love both of those guys."

Another collaboration fans should not expect on Justin's new album is Beyonce. Though the megastar has admitted to working with him for her new record, she will not be featured on his latest effort. Justin did however, drop some hints about his upcoming "Legends of the Summer" tour with Jay-Z, beginning July 17.

"Well we're still working it out. But the idea is that -- this is a completely random reference but -- I remember seeing Elton and Billy Joel go on tour together and the way they mixed each other's songs," Justin said. "So I don't want to give too much away, but it's going to be a completely collaborative show. What that means, we don't know yet because we haven't put it together."

The 20/20 Experience drops on March 19.
