Say what you want about Yeezus but he does give credit when credit is due.
Notoriously famous for taking the stage at the 2009 VMAs and snatching the mic from a then new comer country singer Taylor Swift, Kanye shared his feelings of how undeserving the starlet was of the award above Beyonce. Kanye has always been vocal about giving props to artists he think are geniuses. But In his recent New York Times article, Mr. West named dropped a rapper that we're sure made most readers take a second read.
Kanye compared the sound of his new album to J-Kwon's 2004 hit "Tipsy" telling the newspaper, "This album is moments that I haven't done before, like just my voice and drums. What people call a rant — but put it next to just a drumbeat". "The last record I can remember — and I’m going to name records that you’ll think are cheesy — but like, “Tipsy.” People would think that’s like a lower-quality, less intellectual form of hip-hop, but that’s always my No. 1"
Ye insists although he's still a slight musical snob, he's removed all "opera sounds" and "snob heaven songs" from the album. Roll on June 18th so we can hear exactly what he means.
