Kanye West Sued Over Another Sample, Man Seeks $500k

Just when things were settled in the Syl Johnson vs. ‘Ye & Hov case, Kanye’s been hit with another lawsuit (via AllHipHop).

The Persuaders’ Robert Poindexter is suing Kanye West over an alleged uncleared sample of the R&B group’s “Trying Girls Out.” According to the lawsuit, Kanye was aware the sample (used in Freshman Adjustment 2’s 2006 “Girls Girls Girls” remix) was not clear prior to use because a cleared version appeared on the original “Girls Girls Girls” in 2001.

Poindexter says he’s tried to resolve the matter outside of court, but Kanye’s refused to discuss any resolutions.

As a result, Poindexter is seeking $500,000 in damages. —Stephanie Long
