Kathleen Kennedy Leaves 'Jurassic Park 4' For 'Star Wars'

Kathleen Kennedy Leaves 'Jurassic Park 4' For 'Star Wars'

VIBE Pop Culture Posted February 19, 2013

It looks as if Universal's Jurassic Park 4 will proceed without its franchise producer Kathleen Kennedy. We have the details for you after the break.

Her colleague Frank Marshall tweeted the update, writing, "Ms. Kennedy has moved onto Star Wars and will not be producing JP4. She's traded raptors for TIE fighters."

Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) penned the script for the four-quel, which will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg. Kennedy has a long and storied history with the dinosaur franchise going back 20 years. Originally, she served as but a producer on 1993's Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), and Jurassic Park III (2001).

The three-film total banked $1.9 billion globally, but that seems to be mere pennies as to what the J.J. Abrams-helmed Star Wars: Episode VII could potentially bring in at the box office.

Kennedy, who also produced Spielberg's Best Picture nominee Lincoln, recently became the President of LucasFilm and will be executive producing the next installment of the Star Wars saga, which is due to hit theaters in 2015.
