It’s been a wait for new music from Kelis after the release of Flesh Tone in 2010, give or take the single release of Calvin Harris‘ “Bounce” three years back and the surfacing online of “Jerk Ribs” last spring. But lo and behold, the genre-defying diva’s sixth album Food (out April 22) now has artwork and a tracklist. Given the name of the Dave Sitek-produced LP, song titles like “Breakfast,” “Cobbler,” “Fish Fry” and “Biscuits ‘n’ Gravy” really shouldn’t surprise anyone.
“I love the lifestyle of a great meal,” Kelis told Idolator in 2009, shortly after taking culinary classes at the famed Le Cordon Bleu and becoming a certified saucier. “I think food and fashion and music all go together when it’s done right.”
