The good kid returns to his mad city of Compton for the latest VEVO Lift episode.
The TDE emcee invites viewers into his home, pointing out his radio and recalling how his parents' musical tastes influenced him. "They played everything from gangsta rap to oldies,” said Kendrick. “You hear Snoop, Dre, you hear Marvin Gaye on the next track. They stayed in my corner and said what you got to do in life is find something positive.”
With his debut good kid m.A.A.d city dropping in October, he recalls Mr. and Mrs. Lamar always being 100% supportive. “That’s why I’m able to walk through Compton and when I walk though it, people give me that respect and that salute.”
