After much anticipation, Kendrick Lamar has given a release date for his debut album.
In an interview with R&R Productions, Kendrick announced that the album will drop October 2 through Entertainment/Aftermath/Interscope, however, no official title has been confirmed.
"Let me personally announce the album date and ‘CORRECT’ title. Then its official,” he tweeted.
While he has worked with Dr.Dre already for the album, the Compton rapper wants to use his debut album to showcase his individual ability as an artist. “A lot of people get to this position where I’m at and they feel like they’ve made it, so they wanna reach out to all the big producers,” said Kendrick. “I still feel like I need to go out and show and prove that I stand alone on my own two feet creatively, and that’s exactly what I’m gon’ do.”
