Sure, the big sales story of the week is Taylor Swift selling 1.208 million units of her latest album, Red… which happens to be the biggest first-week debut not just for the year, but for any artist since 2002.
But what about Kendrick Lamar?
The West Coast rap freshman’s debut, good kid, m.A.A.d city, moved roughly 242,000 copies in its first week, according to Hits Daily Double estimates. It's enough to give Kendrick a No. 2 debut on the Billboard 200 chart with an album that’s scored rave reviews among fans and critics, and already been pegged a classic.
Congratulations to the kid and anyone who was placing bets.
