Kerry Washington was the brightest star at the 44th annual NAACP Image Awards last night. The talented actress took home three Image Awards -- the most by any nominee of the night.
Washington was awarded best supporting actress in a motion picture for Django Unchained, and most outstanding actress in a drama series for her role on Scandal as the president's most trusted adviser, Olivia Pope. Her last award of the night was the President's Award, which is given in recognition of special achievement and exceptional public service. Who can forget her powerful speech at the 2012 Democratic National Convention?
The 36-year-old actress beamed after picking up her first Image Award, claiming it did not belong solely to her. "It belongs to our ancestors," she said. "We shot [Django Unchained] on a slave plantation, and they were with us along every step of the way."
