Kid Fury's Blog: Top 10 Girl Group Songs Drake Should Cover

Posted August 4, 2011

During this year’s OVO Festival in Toronto, everybody’s favorite Hip-Hop plush toy blessed the skies with an R&B classic. Droopy Drake took a break from vibrating his right hand (which I named Rupert) and purred a few lines from “Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child.

Just last year, Lil Wayne’s mulatto money-train released a song called “I Get Lonely Too” -- a cover of “Fanmail” by TLC. That trip to 1999 was slightly offensive for me, only because I'm a TLC groupie and I think some shit should be left alone. However, I do appreciate Aubrey’s recognition of fantastically emo tunes by female bands. In fact, I have requests for future projects. Here are ten songs by girl groups that I think Drake should cover.

Don’t Let Go x En Vogue

He’s Mine x Mokenstef

5 Miles To Empty x Brownstone

Don’t Walk Away x Jade

Your My Little Secret x Xscape

You Don’t Know x 702

Rain x SWV

Meeting In The Ladies Room x Klymaxx

How It’s Gonna Be x LovHer

Too Much x Spice Girls

As a tax-paying citizen of the United States, I demand that Drake convert this list into a free mixtape. If not, then he should at least team up with Miguel and Nicki Minaj to record a 2011 version of “808” by Blaque. I don’t ask much, so let’s get the damn ball rolling.
