Lady Gaga Gives $1 Million To Hurricane Sandy Relief

Lady Gaga has pledged $1 million to the Red Cross to support the Hurricane Sandy relief effort. Gaga is a native New Yorker, and she is clearly deeply affected by the devastation of her home town.

"If it wasn't for NYC: the Lower Eastside, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn, I would not be the woman or artist that I am today," Gaga said on her website.

The songstress made one of the largest personal pledges to date, dwarfing the amount of money that has been donated by some corporations. Talk about putting your money where your mouth is. Her donation is none too soon - it comes just as a Nor'easter, promising snow and rain, bears down on the city and the surrounding area.
