Leonardo DiCaprio wants that old thing back.
A 2007 photo of Leo and Nelson Mandela that never made it to the actor is now being put up for sale and he wants it, Page Six has learned.
Back when Leo was shooting the 2006 epic Blood Diamond in South Africa, he took a photo with the late iconic leader, who wrote on the image, "To Leo DiCaprio, Best Wishes, Mandela, 4-8-07."
Somehow, the snapshot landed in the hands of memorabilia and autographs dealer Moments in Time and went up for sale for $25,000 this week. While Moments in Time didn't reveal how they snatched the pic, they say they own the image's rights.
A member of DiCaprio's camp was quoted as saying that it belongs to the Titanic star. “The photo is clearly not their property,” said the source. “He wants the picture. His lawyers are considering action.”
While Hollywood attorney Steve Warren reportedly shot over a letter to them this week, Moments in Time’s Gary Zimet fired back, saying, “They think by trying to intimidate me that they can get the picture for free. The provenance is ironclad. Leo is welcome to buy it.”
