Hailing from Chicago's GBE Squad that born Chief Keef and Lil Reese, Lil Durk is one of Def Jam's newest signees. Having self-released three mixtapes independently under his OTF (Only The Family) label, Durk talks to VIBE about his in-the-works fourth street tape, Signed to the Streets. His latest single, "Dis Ain't What U Want," already takes the listener to the South Side Englewood Chicago streets that bred him. "In my own city they hate on me, put weight on me/ Fuck TMZ, fuck breaking news and ABC," he raps about the negative attention the Chicago rap scene has been getting.
"Chicago was bad, before there was rap. Period." charges Durk. But the Life Ain't No Joke rapper is moving past all that and is ready to change things. "I wanna be the talk of the year," he says about his upcoming projects. "The mixtape will talk. The album will talk. Talk everything."
