Lil' Durk vowed to turn his life around today in court.
The Chicago rapper, né Durk Banks, appeared in court to plead guilty to gun possession charges. Durk was sentenced to 18 months probation for an event that occurred on April 10, 2013, Chicago Tribune reports. Chicago police responded to calls about a "person with a gun" around 3am. When officers arrived on the scene, they claimed to see Durk toss a loaded Glock 9mm through the window of a car.
At the time of his arrest, Durk was on probation from an earlier conviction stemming from a charge for the aggrivated unlawful use of a weapon in 2011. This time around Durk sounded remorseful. The rapper explained, "The key word is I'll be staying out of trouble." He vowed he'd never go back to court adding, "You can put a capital N – for never."
According to Durk's attorney, Sam Adam Jr., he's completed over 150 hours of community service with CureViolence at University of Illinois at Chicago. Adam also explained that his client is the exception and is actively trying to better his neighborhood.
Durk is currently signed to Def Jam imprint Coke Boyz.
